Holy crap, bead art can make some COOL 8-Bit Nintendo characters!
Saw this guy's deviant art page:

    http://zachbits.deviantart.com/gallery/

And he's apparently taken those bead-art things (where you peg those little plastic cylinders to a board & then iron the back of it to make one whole piece) & made a bunch of Nintendo video game characters. O_O I've heard of this being done before & this was really cool to see. I may have to get together with Beth & do this to make all sorts of cool NES style guys. :-D

    Saturday Morning Cartoons: 2009

As Beth started this mini- weekend-only job she got today, I had to also be up early (i.e. 7am). So, after I dropped her off & came back to my parent's house a thought occured to me: It's Saturday morning....do they still have Saturday morning cartoons??

I remember as a kid Saturday was THEE day for cartoon watching, but as the years went by there seemed to be less & less good stuff on. If you look inside a comic book published during the 1980's, you are bound to see advertisements for all sorts of Saturday Morning lineups from the big 3 networks of Saturday morning cartoons (at least back then): CBS, NBC & ABC. In the 1990's, FOX & the WB/CW started to get in on the whole Saturday morning cartoon bandwagon so then (for a short time) you had FIVE networks to watch cartoons on.

So, as I'm up already, have work at noon, decided to flip on the boob-tube and see just what the hell is playing on Saturday morning. I started at Channel 2 (aka CBS) & worked my way up. Below, are my results:

CBS: About 5 shows, so not too bad. The cartoons don't start until 10:30am though, which is really weird. They used to start at like, 8, 9 am I think. As for what shows, they got "Horse Land", "Dino Squad" (which might not even be a cartoon), "Sushi Pack", "Strawberry Shortcake" & "Care Bears Adventures in Care-A-Lot".

NBC: About 3 shows. WOW, that's nothing compared to their 80's line-up. Nothing starts until 10:30am as well, and then we get "VeggieTales", "3-2-1 Penguins!" & "Turbo Dogs".

FOX: NOTHING. O_O Holy crap. They are completely devoid of any signs of Saturday morning cartoons. The only thing that's even close, is something called "Teen Kids News" & that's at 9:30am. After that, nothing. I rmemeber FOX Kids, or "Killer Tomatoes" or "EEK! The Cat" being on, now...nothing. Like an ancient civilization that's been completely forgotten.

ABC: OK, now, ABC has got some stuff. A lot of it is live-action shows, but at least they're aimed at kids. Starting at 9am we get: "The
Emperor's New School", "The Replacements", 1 Hour of "That's So Raven", "Hannah Montanna", "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody" & 1 Hour of "Power Rangers: RPM".

WB/CW: OK, now, apparently this is the last of the major networks to still have a FULL Cartoon Saturday Morning lineup. From 8am-to-Noon, there be cartoons here. Here's what you get: 1 Hour of "Sonic X", "Yu-Gi-Oh 50's", 1 Hour of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", "Dinosaur King", "Kamen Rider Dragon Knight" & "Huntik: Secrets & Seekers".

Okay, so it appears that Saturday morning cartoons are NOT completely dead (except for on FOX; it's VERY dead there), which is cool. But...even though there is cartoons on Saturday mornings, there isn't anything worth watching (except maybe Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). So, again being curious, I decided to turn on a channel that's more for people MY age: Boomerang. And it's glorious LoL.

Here's what we got this morning, & I cut them off at Noon as that's always when Saturday Morning cartoons offically end & then it's time to go play outside:

    Boomerang
8:30 am: "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop"- Never really watched it back in the day, but it's typical Hanna-Barbera stuff.

9:00 am: "The Snorks"- AWESOME! Watching it now, this show was always a favorite of mine growing up, so it's cool that it's on still.

9:30 am: "The Smurfs"- HA! Figures they'd have these two very similar shows on back-to-back. Haven't watched this in AGES.

10:00 am: "Dynomutt Dog Wonder"- Okay...I know there was a Dynomutt cartoon in the 80's, and he hanged around with Blue Falcon...but this show says it was, made in the year 2000, so I dunno WHAT it is. If it's the old show, I'll watch it. If it's new, I'm going to the 4th World 20% Off sale. *looks on Google* Hrmm..okay..according to Wikipedia, they never made a newer show...so maybe this is just a collection of older episodes? O_o? The original show came out in 1978, so we'll have to see what it is when it comes on at 10. I'll keep you guys posted on what exactly the show is when it comes on.

10:30 am: "Fantastic Max"- Okay, NO clue wtf this show is, BUT if I'm home I'll find out LoL.

11:00 am: "Hong Kong Phooey"- Number 1 super guy! NICE! This show I liked as a kid. I even managed to get a Hong Kong Phooey beanie from the Warner Brothers store back when it was still around. Cool show AND if features the voice of Jazz, Scatman Crothers.

11:30 am: "Top Cat"- Never really liked this show, as it wasn't in MY generation of Hanna-Barbera cartoons. It's not a HORRIBLE show, but whenever it was on, I'd change the channel.

Okay, well that's it for my blog. Time to go WATCH some of these cartoons instead of writing about them LoL. OH, and a short called "Wonder Wheel" is on now. I vaguely remember this show...ah well, see you later guys!

WTF?? They made a Masters of the Universe RPG!? O_o??!

I was looking at He-Man.org's newly updated site, and went into their Merchandise section. There they show various MotU related products that came out during the 80's- from Bath towels & to soap holders to board games & bed sheets. While looking in the games section, I noticed the title of the page that said: "Board and Role Playing Games". "Role playing games?? They never made a MotU RPG...did they? O_o??" I thought to myself. But sure enough, they did- in 1985 by some company called FASA. I did a search on google, and came to a site called "the Board game geek" which had a LOT of information about it (link is below).

The Masters of the Universe Role Playing Game

Apparently it's more like a standard Boxed Adventure RPG (where you play as characters on cards, and you don't make them up yourself) where the players play as either He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Teela, Orko, Ram-Man or Fisto. There's a "dungeon" map you play on and each character apparently has their own skills (and according to the card for Orko, he doesn't suck this time).

HOW in the hell did I miss this?? I totally have to find & buy this game and then run it.

    ....WTF??
OKAY, apparently Disney and Transformers had a cross-over. It was released in Japan & now there's a repaint of it coming out that's a HALLOWEEN themed version of it....Now, probably would pass on the regular Optimus Prime colored version but..a Transformer/Disney Character/Halloween toy is just 2 out of the 3 things that I'm TOTALLY down with.

Click the following link for a picture.. tformers.com/transformers-/11955/news.html

Halloween themed toys are virtually non-existant in this "modern" (aka not 1980's/90's) age, so seeing this stuff just makes me happy. Totally may buy this provided its' not too much $$

Madballs ARE Back! Took 'em long enough...
I 1st mentioned the return of Madballs in a blog WAAAYY back in February of 2006 (Mon, the 13th to be presise). It's taken them until November of '07 to finally get them out in stores & I've acquired 5 out of the 6 they've released so far. All I need now is Repvile (the 1st new Madball character created since the lines cancellation) & I'll be all set. Dust Brain & Freaky Fullback (two other re-vamped 80's Madballs shown at the '06 Toy Fair) have not been released yet, BUT as it says 'Series 1' on the packages, maybe they'll make an appearence in Series '2'? Stay tuned for some pics of the Madballs, once I'm able to access a computer & not my DS.

My 1st LARPing experience, in a nutshell. (Part 1)
As an avid visitor of Selden House between Late 2001-to-Early 2006, the term 'Live-Action-Role-Playing' (i.e. a LARP) was tossed around frequently. Most of the people who lived there & went there played in a Conneticut based LARP known as 'Fantasy Quest' (aka FQ) & talks about stuff (characters, abilities, adventures, plot lines, etc.) were brought up in conversation, most often alienating others who had NO clue what the hell a 'crit 4 sever' attack was.

Conrad, one of the people who play(ed) FQ as well as lived at Selden House wanted to start a LARP of his own here on Long Island, and talked about if for a few years. At one point he even asked me if I'd want to play in it as an NPC when the time came ("You're a genetically-engineered NPC" was a description of me he used once or twice, as I'm apparently very known for different voices/personalities I can do). I agreed as it sounded like fun to give a LARP a try that I wouldn't have to travel between states for multiple days at a time.

Fast forward to a month or so ago where Conrad wanted to have his LARP, but due to insurance issues (or lack-there-of) the game was post-poned FOUR WEEKS until September the 15th. He had a BBQ that day instead (what I like to call a 'LARP-EQ'), had boffer fighting & made me up a PC instead of an NPC. When he called me this past Tuesday & asked me to help save Middlehaven LARP by playing as THREE different NPC's, I was having 2nd thoughts about playing in it, but as I DID say I would play as an NPC when he asked me years ago & being a man of my word, I agreed to play.

As I heard I'd been there from like 10am until 10pm & wasn't thrilled with launching a nuke at my Saturday off (i.e., destroying the possibilities of doing things other then LARPing that day) but if Conrad's dream of having a LARP of his own was hinging on me being there, I wasn't going to let him down (but that didn't mean I couldn't bitch about it ~_^).

More when I return from work.

O_O LoL, they put the song in it, that's awesome ^_^
Found this link via Superherotimes.com, lookin' pretty kick-ass so far:

Robert Downey Jr. works well so far as Tony Stark it seems, so here's hoping it's not as bad as the FAntastic Four movies.

    Yesterday's post: Take 2
Apparently posting long entries via my Nintendo DS doesn't work, so here's what yesterday's post was about in 'Sum-Up' mode:

I was woken up at least an hour early to the sound of my dad pulling up in his 85/86 Camaro. The thing vibrates the walls it's so loud, it's like a small jet taking off.

He's not off on Tuesday & it's my ussual one day off during the week were I have the house to myself, so any plans made were erradicated by him being home.

So I go & us my DS to rant about it & it's a bueautiful post but the DS doesn't post 98% of it. >_< So THAT pisses me off.

The whole day after that point wasn't one of my better days, although the universe tried to make nice by allowing me to find two Transformers 2-packs I was missing & a toy shark from the Imaginext toy line named "Bite".

By the time I dropped Beth off at home I was exhausted & just wanted to sleep until NEXT Tuesday. -_-

Hopefully today will be better & I'm off to work.
